Yushin America, Inc.

Yushin America, Inc. (YAI) is the leading supplier of automation for the plastics injection-molding industry in the Western Hemisphere. Based in Cranston, Rhode Island, with branch offices in North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, and California, YAI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yushin Precision Equipment Co., Ltd., of Japan.

YAI combines Yushin Precision Equipment's world-class product development and manufacturing capabilities with U.S.-based applications engineering and integration services, providing the most complete automation solutions available to injection molders. Depending upon users' requirements, solutions range from single, stand-alone robots for sprue picking to complete “lights-out” factory automation systems involving parts removal, secondary processing, inspection, packaging, and material handling. All YAI systems are based on robots manufactured by Yushin Precision Equipment, one of the three largest producers of injection-molding robots worldwide. Customers include custom and captive molders ranging from small, independent to major, multinational corporations, and spanning the range of injection-molding markets and products from consumer, non-durables to critical, industrial components.

YAI's primary objective is to help injection molders realize the substantial cost savings that automation offers. To this end, all but the simplest installations receive extensive support from our in-house engineers. YAI offers engineering in the following areas:

  • Part Design: YAI can advise molders on part design to accommodate automated extraction from the mold and automated secondary processing.
  • Mold Design: Including gate design and location for automated degating and part orientation, spacing, and cavitation, to minimize automation cost and complexity.
  • Robot Sizing and application of drives and controls.
  • End-of-Arm Tooling: Design and construction.
  • Robot Programming.
  • Downstream Automation Design:. Including boxing, packaging, palletizing; decorating, labeling; insert molding; integration of QC functions such as weighing or dimensional gauging; and part assembly, pressing, and welding.
  • Complete Plant Layout and Design: For automated, post-mold material handling including automated guided vehicles (AGVs). "

Through applications engineering, and particularly through the integration of additional equipment and downstream processes, YAI helps robot users maximize their investments in molding automation. Beyond simple runner and part removal applications, YAI has engineered systems to perform the following functions:

  • General manipulation: part removal, part orientation, sprue picking and flex hinges.
  • Degating.
  • Machining: milling drilling.
  • Part sorting: family molds and bad-part isolation.
  • Packaging: boxing, palletizing, tray loading and bagging.
  • Decorating: hot-stamp printing, pad printing, pressure-sensitive label application and in-mold decoration.
  • Serialization: laser printing and impact print.
  • Assembly: snap fit, adhesive bonding, ultrasonic welding and place and torque fasteners
  • Insert Molding: automated placement and verification of inserts
  • Quality Control: vision inspection, dimensional gauging, shot-weight recording and leak testing.

Yushin Precision Equipment (Japan) Profile

Yushin Precision Equipment (YPE) is one of the top three suppliers of robots for plastics injection-molding machines in the world.

The English translation of Yushin basically means strong reputation, trust, confidence and integrity. In other words, a company you can believe in. The motto of the company in Japan is "Heartful Technology". Since the founding of the company, Yushin has remained true to our name, developing robots with all of our human energy. Yushin robots are designed with innovative technology and a deep passion for craftsmanship. Our automation and labor-saving technology including a lights-out factory are proof of our success. Yushin is preparing for the new age when technology skips across all borders. Each Yushin employee is working to improve individually as well as working to transform Yushin into a global enterprise for the 21st century.

The high volume of production provides financial, engineering and product strengths to:

  • Provide cost-effective automation due to manufacturing economy of scale.
  • Thorough knowledge of automation know-how on a world basis.
  • Financial strength and stability.
  • Large R & D budget to reinvest in product development and automated factory know-how.

"Attempting the impossible is the starting point for all new technology" is the motto of the R&D department. This motto lets our staff escape from the idea of impossibility and results in a stream of creative technology that is powerful and unique. From this base, we aim to build the ideal plastics molding plant capable of 24-hour, unmanned operation. Software and hardware for automated production systems are increasingly sophisticated. To survive in this competitive field, we know we must be the first to perceive emerging market needs and the first to respond. Our offices around the world are our information gathering posts on changing user needs providing vital feedback to our development department. As the technology becomes increasingly borderless, our global contacts ensure our leadership position.

Quality determines the fate of the company. Yushin products are made with state-of-the-art equipment and through a unique production system based on our advanced technology and accumulated expertise.
