In an automated insert-molding cell, the robot picks the insert from a presentation station (bowl feeder, tray, magazine, or operator station), verifies its presence and orientation, and places it at the correct position in the open mold. The EOAT handles both insert loading and, in suitable configurations, finished-part extraction within a single mold-open sequence.

Insert-molding EOAT is designed around the specific insert geometry, part geometry, cavity layout, mold access envelope, and payload requirements. In suitable applications, dual-function EOAT can handle insert loading and finished-part extraction in the same mold-open cycle. Yushin provides application-specific EOAT engineering for insert molding projects.

Insert presence and orientation can be verified using sensors integrated into the EOAT or at the presentation station. If an insert is absent or incorrectly oriented, the cell can fault before the robot enters the mold, reducing the risk of a mold damage event. The exact sensing and interlock arrangement is designed for the specific application.

A servo wrist is appropriate when the insert requires controlled rotational motion between its pickup position and its placement position in the mold — for example, rotating the insert to match a specific angular orientation required for the mold cavity. Where the pickup and placement orientations match and no rotation is needed, a fixed EOAT may be sufficient. Application review determines whether a wrist is necessary.

Yes. Yushin supports a range from semi-automatic to fully automated insert-molding configurations. In a semi-automatic setup, an operator may present the insert to the robot or manually load at certain steps, while the robot handles the placement and part extraction. Full automation is appropriate where volume, cycle time, and insert consistency justify the investment.
